CFL SIM: LIONS MAUL TICATS 18-7

VANCOUVER – The BC Lions kept pace in the tough CFL SIM West Division with hard-fought 18-7 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats Friday night.

In a computer-generated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, Mike Reilly survived a 187-yard passing night to lead his Lions to a 6-5 record. WR Caleb Holley scored on a 30-yard touchdown toss from Reilly in the second quarter and LB Adam Konar returned a fumble for a major for the bulk of BC’s scoring.

It was another low-scoring SIM first half which saw the Ticats lead 2-1 after the first quarter and the Lions lead 8-5 at the break. BC carried a 12-5 lead into the fourth quarter.

Ticats QB Jeremiah Masoli threw three interceptions as part of a 190-yard night. WR Brandon Banks led all Hamilton receivers with 97 yards on nine receptions. Sean Thomas-Erlington had 48 yards along the ground but a costly fumble led to Konar’s score.

A clearly frustrated virtual Ticats head coach Orlondo Steinauer said he’ll strongly consider starting Dane Evans in next week’s Labour Day Classic versus Toronto at Tim Hortons Field. Hamilton is now 3-8, but entered Week 12 in a 3-way tie for second place in the CFL SIM East Division.
