TUESDAY RUNDOWN: JOE CRAIG SHARES HIS STORY

It was an emotional Episode #323 of The RP Show, Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show. Read on for the recap:

  • Rod and Dupes got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) On Monday Night Football, the Las Vegas Raiders beat the New Orleans Saints 34-24, 2) Which o-2 NFL team is a mirage? (Better than their record): Vikings, Lions, Jets, Falcons, Panthers, Giants, Eagles, Dolphins, Bengals, Texans or Broncos? RP said it’s Minnesota while Dupes suggested Atlanta, 3) Can teams blame injuries for losses?, 4) The Stanley Cup Final is now 1-1 after Tampa Bay downed Dallas 3-2, 5) A recap of the NHL Awards handed out Monday evening, and 6) The Jays beat the Yankees 11-5 and are lined up to visit Tampa Bay in the playoffs.
  • Longtime Ontario sportscaster Tony Ambrogio joined the show from Mississauga. The TSN.ca writer, Mississauga Steelheads (OHL) announcer and broadcast instructor talked about working with RP in The Score days, said OHL staff are waiting on a firm Return To Play announcement (they are scheduled to open training camps November 15), and examined the Blue Jays. Tony feels that no matter how this season turns out, if the Jays make the playoffs, it’s a win for the Shapiro/Atkins regime who’s been roasted since taking over in Toronto.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in Week 16 of CFL SIM – MTL at HAM, WPG at CGY, TOR at OTT or SASK at BC? At press time, Riders/Lions was leading. The winner will be broadcast on Facebook Live Friday at 7:00 pm MT on the RP Show Facebook page.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and we were joined by Hamilton sportscaster Bubba O’Neil of CHCH-TV. He talked about Monday Night Football and said he’s not a fan of the new broadcast crew of Steve Levy, Brian Griese and Louis Riddick. Bubba drove by an empty Tim Hortons Field on the weekend and said it’s a very empty feeling in Hamilton without Ticats and McMaster Marauders football. He also touched on excitement around the Blue Jays in Southern Ontario.
  • The highlight of the show was an interview with former Roughriders WR/KR Joe Craig (2016-17). He was in an horrific car accident in Memphis in August and has had several surgeries since. He was told he’ll never again but he’s been walking regularly over the past few weeks. He’s organized a 1-mile walk in Memphis this Saturday and encouraged all viewers to do a walk on their own. There’s also been a GoFundMe campaign and you can donate here. Craig recalled his time with the Riders and punt return touchdown against the Argos in Toronto in October of 2017. He feels he’s very lucky to be alive.
