FLAME TECH FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN

Fridays are reserved for Football on The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – and we tackled it all on Episode #331! Here’s the rundown:

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Thursday Night Football’s Denver 37-28 win over the NY Jets was more entertaining than we expected, 2) More on the XFL’s return, 3) Football Canada is hosting a summit to include the CFL, CJFL and U-Sports this month, 4) The Moose Jaw Warriors have opened a formal discussion on their logo, 5) NBA Finals Game 2 goes Friday night with the Lakers up 1-0 on the Heat, and 6) Friday features a MLB playoff triple-header.
  • RP Show NFL/Fantasy Insider Tori Gurley joined the show to offer his weekly Fanduel Fantasy Tips. Viewers have won money each week with Tori’s advice! He previewed the big Week 4 match-ups, said the Green Bay Packers are for real, answered viewer questions and said Dak Prescott will never be the type of quarterback who can win games on his own.
  • Rod and John Frenzy examined the CFL situation and Frenzy referenced Friday’s Leader Post story quoting former Roughriders President Tom Shepherd who questioned where the team’s money has gone? RP referenced an interview with Commissioner Randy Ambrosie this week where he basically guaranteed the CFL will survive the pandemic while other league insiders say we’re witnessing the CFL’s demise. The host said it’s up to each fan to sort out the noise themselves and form their own opinion how this will play out.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will play games first – the CFL or XFL? At press time, the majority voted for the CFL.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and we were joined by Sportsnet anchor Ken Reid who’s promoting his latest book One To Remember – Stories from the NHL’s 1 Goal Club. RP said it’s a great book for anyone who loves hockey stories and Reid said it’s available from Amazon or at your favourite book store. Ken also gashed the Blue Jays for their handling of their playoff series against Tampa Bay and said analytics are overrated.
  • On the Moose Jaw Warriors latest logo story, RP said he basically doesn’t care how the Warriors handle it. He feels the team came up with the logo and name to honour First Nations people years ago and doesn’t understand why it’s a problem now.
  • Regina Mayoralty candidate Jerry Flegel joined the bunker to announce that if elected he – along with City Council and private developers – will spearhead the construction of a new year-round entertainment facility which will be funded privately and renew downtown Regina.
