WEDNESDAY COMMENTARY – DON’T THREATEN ME

(Listen for the Rod Pedersen Commentary daily at 9:50 am and 5:20 pm on Cat Country 98 FM)

THINK OF TODAY’S COMMENTARY LIKE A SPORTSCAST … THREE TOPICS IN 90 SECONDS.

NUMBER ONE, THE FIRST ROUND OF THE NHL DRAFT WENT LAST NIGHT AND EVERYONE WOULD HAVE TO AGREE IT WAS A SUCCESS.

SASKATCHEWAN AND THE WHL WERE WELL REPRESENTED ALTHOUGH THE OHL REALLY DOMINATED. P-A’S KAIDEN GUHLE WAS THE FIRST SASK DUB TEAM PLAYER TO GO, GOING NUMBER-16 TO MONTREAL.

PRINCE ALBERT PRODUCT BRADEN SCHNEIDER WAS THE FIRST SASKATCHEWAN PRODUCT TO GO, NUMBER-19 TO THE NEW YORK RANGERS. HE’S BEEN WITH THE BRANDON WHEAT KINGS.

THE DRAFT WILL CONCLUDE TODAY WITH ROUNDS 2 THROUGH 7.

NUMBER TWO, I DIDN’T SEE IT IN WRITING BUT I HEARD THE MAYOR OF LOS ANGELES SAID TUESDAY THAT THERE WILL BE NO LARGE PUBLIC GATHERINGS UNTIL LABOUR DAY OF 2021.

IF THAT’S TRUE, AND THE SAME OCCURS IN CANADA WHICH WOULDN’T SURPRISE ME, THEN THERE’S ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THE CFL CAN SURVIVE THIS. AND YOU’D ALMOST HAVE TO SAY IT’S THROUGH NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN.

AND LASTLY, APPARENTLY MY COMMENTARY YESTERDAY RANKLED SOME FOLLOWERS.

I’M SHOCKED THAT AFTER ALL THIS TIME, AND AFTER GROWING UP A SASKATCHEWAN FARM BOY, PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED THAT I HOLD CONSERVATIVE VIEWS.

THEY MADE THREATS AND SAID SOME NOT-VERY-NICE-THINGS.

LOOK … I’VE WALKED THROUGH THE FIRE MULTIPLE TIMES IN MY LIFE. I’M DONE WITH TIPPY-TOE’ING. YOU CAN’T THREATEN ME AND YOU CERTAINLY CAN’T SCARE ME.

IF YOU HAVE TO, CALL MY BOSS.

OH WAIT … THAT’S ME.
