FLAME TECH FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: THE LEGENDS JOIN!

They’re telling us Friday’s Episode #340 of The RP Show was our best yet! Read on for the rundown:

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Le’Veon Bell signs with the Kansas City Chiefs, 2) Week 6 NFL big games, 3) Are the 4-1 Browns for real?, 4) A CFL Return To Play update, 5) There are more Canadians playing in NFL and NCAA than ever before. How can the CFL capitalize on this?, and 6) It’s CFL SIM Game Day with Canada’s Game of the Week featuring the Ottawa RedBlacks at the Calgary Stampeders! You can watch at 7:00 pm MT Friday on the RP Show Facebook page.
  • RP Show NFL Insider Tori Gurley joined the show for the weekly Tori’s Tips feature for Wheaton Kia and Fanduel. Tori gave his Week 6 fantasy selections and teed up the big games. He expects Green Bay to roll over the Bucs in Tampa, and said the Cleveland Browns are “fool’s gold” and will be exposed against the Steelers. The former Packers and Browns WR gave plenty of hot takes entering Week 6.
  • Roughriders icon and Hall of Famer Steve Mazurak joined the bunker along with John Frenzy and “Maz” explained his vision for Football Island – a CFL All Stars Skills Competition in a Made-For-TV event this off-season. He modelled it after the CFL All Star Countdown from the 1970s or Damon Allen’s QB Challenge from the 1990s. Steve said if there’s an appetite for the event, they’ll make it happen.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is the biggest game in Week 6 of the NFL – Packers/Bucs, Browns/Steelers, Cardinals/Cowboys or Rams/49ers? At press time, Green Bay/Tampa was leading.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and Mazurak’s appearance was so popular that it carried over from Hour 1. The former WR (1973-80) answered all kinds of fan questions including memories of playing at CNE Stadium in Toronto, playing with – and for – Ron Lancaster, and how the Riders turned into the biggest revenue-generator in the CFL during his time with the club as VP of Sales & Marketing.
  • Tiger-Cats Special Teams Coordinator Jeff Reinebold joined the show from Hawaii for a lengthy, but entertaining visit. Winnipeg fans asked Reinebold about his time with the Bombers and he said by the amount it’s still talked about, you’d think they won two Grey Cups! Reinebold covers the NFL for Sky Sports and said the league will finish the season no matter what because it’s not just a league. It’s an industry. He also got passionate about the future of the CFL and said the league’s on the right track with fan engagement but needs to get more kids playing the game in Canada. He also surmised that they can’t keep cutting coaches salaries if they expect to remain viable and attract top talent.
  • You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions. At press time, Reinebold was leading. Thursday’s vote was won by Tim Micallef.
