CFL SIM: BOMBERS UPSET ARGOS 25-17

WINNIPEG – In a big game with CFL SIM playoff implications, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers flexed their defensive muscle in a 25-17 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Sunday to close out Week 19.

In a computer-simulated game on Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, Richie Hall’s Bomber D recovered two fumbles, picked off Argo QB Matt Nichols twice and sacked him once (by Willie Jefferson) to keep pace in the playoff race.

Winnipeg led 6-1 after the first quarter, 16-3 at halftime and carried a 22-5 edge into the fourth quarter. They cashed in 16 points off Argo turnovers.

Bomber QB Zach Collaros threw for 304 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while Nichols finished the day with 381 yards, one touchdown and two picks.

Darvin Adams led all Bomber receivers with 82 yards while Drew Wolitarsky scored a 14-yard touchdown as part of a 60-yard night. Andrew Harris had 58 yards rushing. For Toronto, WR Llevi Noel went off with 132 yards receiving including an 82-yard score. Marcus Thigpen had 70 yards along the ground.

The Argo loss dropped their record to 9-8 and means Calgary clinches top spot overall with a 12-4 record. Winnipeg improved to 7-9 and within striking distance of 8-8 BC and Edmonton with two games to go.
