THURSDAY COMMENTARY – COWBOYS CRUNCH
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary at 9:50 am and 5:20 pm on Cat Country 98 FM)
I TOLD YOU THERE’D BE TONS OF NFL DISCUSSION IN THIS COMMENTARY THIS FALL AND TODAY WE’VE GOT MORE …
KERMIT THE FROG SINGS “IT’S NOT EASY BEING GREEN” BUT I’D LOVE TO KNOW WHO SINGS ABOUT HOW TOUGH IT IS TO BE A DALLAS COWBOYS FAN.
GEORGE STRAIT HAS A SONG CALLED “HOW BOUT THEM COWGIRLS” AND MAYBE THAT AS CLOSE AS IT GETS.
ARE YOU WATCHING? IT WAS A SEASON THAT STARTED OUT WITH SO MUCH PROMISE AND FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS, PUNDITS HAVE SAID THIS IS THE MOST TALENT ASSEMBLED IN DALLAS SINCE THE 3-SUPER BOWL RUN IN THE 1990s.
HEAD COACH JASON GARRETT WAS FIRED AFTER LAST SEASON BECAUSE HE COULDN’T DELIVER AND FORMER SUPER BOWL-WINNING COACH MIKE MCCARTHY WAS BROUGHT IN FROM GREEN BAY.
WHAT’S HAPPENED THIS SEASON HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF A DISASTER AND THAT INCLUDES THE SEASON-ENDING INJURY TO STAR QUARTERBACK DAK PRESCOTT.
THE COWBOYS HAVE BEEN TOUGH TO WATCH. THEY’RE ON PACE TO ALLOW THE MOST POINTS IN NFL HISTORY.
PLAYERS CAME OUT THIS WEEK AND SAID THIS NEW COACHING STAFF IS UNPREPARED, AND FRANKLY FROM WHAT I’VE SEEN, THEY’RE PROBABLY RIGHT. (LOOKING AT YOU DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR MIKE NOLAN).
BUT YOU CAN’T KEEP FIRING COACHES. AT SOME POINT, THE PLAYERS NEED TO PLAY AND STOP POINTING FINGERS. BUT RIGHT NOW THE COWBOYS ARE A RAGING INFERNO.
AND HERE’S THE KICKER – WITH A RECORD OF 2-4, THEY SIT IN FIRST PLACE IN THEIR DIVISION! SOME PEOPLE ARE SATISFIED WITH THAT BUT THAT’S THE ATTITUDE OF LOSERS.
IF YOU’RE NOT IN CONTENTION TO WIN IT ALL, THEN YOU’RE JUST TAKING UP SPACE. WE DISCUSSED THAT HERE YESTERDAY WITH CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS GM STAN BOWMAN.
IN THE WORDS OF NOTED PHILOSOPHER RICKY BOBBY, “IF YOU’RE NOT FIRST, YOU’RE LAST”.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
