TUESDAY RUNDOWN: STEVIE BAGGS AND JERMAIN FRANKLIN JOIN!

Tuesday’s Episode #403 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – was a lot of laughs with some long-time friends! Here’s the rundown:

  • Rod and Dupes kicked it off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Monday NHL leftovers – Oilers are a mess, Leafs are #1, the Golden Knights have yet to play 60 minutes but are 3-0 and more, 2) Tuesday’s NHL slate features 8 games including Winnipeg at Ottawa, 3) The NFC championship features Brady versus Rodgers and the Packers are favoured by 4, 4) The AFC championship rests on Patrick Mahomes’ status and the Chiefs are favoured by 3, 5) Should Charleston Hughes take a paycut?, and 6) The Raptors have won three in a row after a 116-93 win over the Mavericks.
  • Former NFLer/CFLer Stevie Baggs Jr. joined the show from Atlanta to discuss his role in Season 3 of Cobra Kai, his recurring role in Ruthless on Amazon Prime, and stories from his pro career. Stevie and Rod regaled viewers with stories from the 2009 13th Man Grey Cup and the two other Grey Cup games Baggs came out on the losing end of. Blue Bombers LB Micah Awe was watching and asked about Stevie’s playing style. He laughed about his pigeon-toe and patented spin move off the edge. Baggs has authored two books, works as an inspirational speaker and mentor.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will Connor McDavid ask for a trade? At press time 70% of respondents said no.
  • Hour 2 was simulcast on Game+ TV and Facebook Live and after re-upping the Quick Six, we were joined by TSN anchor Jermain Franklin. Frankie let it fly on a variety of topics including how much he’s loving the struggles of the Oilers, predicted the Toronto Raptors will be a playoff team, and said as much as he loves his anchor role he’d love to return to the CFL sidelines in the East Division when the league returns to play.
  • RP had an array of hot takes including star players Deshaun Watson and James Harden wanting out from under-achieving teams. The host figures perhaps the players are right in not putting up with mediocrity and maybe it’s time more players started standing up for themselves. He also reviewed the Amazon Prime series Yellowstone and said it’s a great learning tool for his wife who’s learning how Rod grew up on the family cattle/grain farm. Regarding Charleston Hughes, RP said he owes the Riders nothing and should be seeking a deal that’s best for him and his family.
