FLAME TECH FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN – SUPER WEEK!
Fridays are reserved for the gridiron on The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – and we got you ready for Super Bowl LV plus covered all the latest CFL news! Here’s the rundown:
- Rod and Dupes kicked it off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Super Bowl 55 Weekend is here! We all made our picks, 2) Thursday NHL leftovers – They’re mad in Vancouver!, 3) NHL.com’s Power Rankings are out and the Top 5 are Tampa Bay, Montreal, Vegas, Washington & Dallas, 4) The RP Show Bottom 5 are Ottawa, San Jose, Detroit, NY Islanders & LA, 5) Did the Riders make a mistake in letting Charleston Hughes go?, and 6) WHL people say the Return To Play Tweet from Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek was premature.
- John Frenzy reiterated his take on Charleston Hughes signing in Toronto, saying his philosophy is “You have to keep your stars!” Viewers on YouTube and Facebook weighed in on both sides.
- RP Show NFL Insider Tori Gurley joined the show and before Super Bowl talk, he offered his take on the CFL. He said it’s been a wild week, and likes the D-line the Argos have built. He predicts the Edmonton Football Team is primed to win the Grey Cup with all their moves, and compared Charleston Hughes to Shawn Lemon (he feels Hughes is simply more season). Tori’s taking the Buccaneers to win Super Bowl 55. So are Rod and Darren.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will win Super Bowl LV – Chiefs or Buccaneers? At press time, the results were around 50/50.
- In Hour 2 we re-upped the Quick Six and were joined by DraftKings oddsmaker Johnny Avello from Vegas. They’ve got the Chiefs installed as 3.5-point favourites. He revealed that you can place bets on the coin toss, colour of the Gatorade Shower, halftime performance and more! Johnny took questions from viewers and said next year’s Super Bowl odds were posted last week. Avello also predicted Las Vegas will be home to an NBA franchise in the coming years.
- Directwest CEO Keith Jeannot joined the bunker and discussed the importance of Shop Local in your province or state, and how Directwest has helped Sask businesses with their social media strategies in the pandemic. The crew also profiled Extreme Hockey & Sport as the Mysask 411 Business of the Week.
