MONDAY RUNDOWN: INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY!

We were back at it Monday with Episode #437 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Dupes led off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Weekend NHL leftovers (the Flames are 0-2 since the coaching change, but Darryl Sutter hasn’t been behind the bench yet), 2) Fake News in the NFL? The Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson stories are getting old, 3) It was a massive sports Sunday with the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Brier, NHL hockey and NBA All Star Game, 4) A Sunday night RP Show poll revealed the majority of respondents were watching the Brier over anything else, 5) Should the NBA have staged an All Star Game (Rod asks why not?), and 6) WHL rumblings as the East Division gets set to face off Friday night in the Brandt Centre.
  • To celebrate International Womens Day, we were joined by CTV/TSN’s Claire Hannah. She discussed her road in broadcasting, how the emotions of her first CFL broadcast were comparable to big USPORTS volleyball games she played in, and women’s sports on TV. Claire challenged Rod to cover more women’s sports and advance the movement to which Rod responded “I think we’re doing fine.”
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which team will finish better after the coaching change – Flames or Canadiens? Over 60% of respondents voted for Montreal.
  • In Hour 2 we re-upped the Quick Six and announced that Rod and Darren will be the TV voices of ALL televised Regina Pats games on AccessNow Television beginning Friday at 8:00 pm when the Pats face the Prince Albert Raiders. The cable network has also unveiled an app for streaming the games, and the information is contained on Rod’s and Darren’s Twitter feeds.
  • The CEO of Canadian Women & Sport Alison Sandmeyer-Graves joined the show from Calgary to discuss Women In Sports. Alison said the movement has made great strides since first being introduced in 1981. She discussed the advancement of women through USPORTS, and how it feels to see female NFL referees, and female coaches and broadcasters in the NHL and NFL.
  • Plenty of time was devoted to Viewer Takeover and this weekend’s CFL Combines in Mexico were brought up. Everyone wondered why more wasn’t made of these events. There was also a lively debate over the weekend’s NHL stories and the upcoming WHL East Division hub games.
  • Monday’s show is available for viewing now on our Facebook page, you can catch the replay at 4:00 pm ET on Game+, listen to the podcast by clicking on the CONTENT tab at the top of this page or listen anytime to our 24-hour live audio feed at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive.

“I think we’re doing fine”. God bless you sir.

On International Women’s Day the message should be clear. Treat ’em as equals because treating them like Princesses men end up as frogs.

I have scoured spotify. I can’t find a podcast dedicated to female sports and I checked to see if any females have set up blogs/podcasts to see if any exist.

I must not be using the technology right as I am sure there is a massive demand to learn all there is to know about the WNBA and PWHL etc.

The truth never has to answer questions.
