We cracked open a brand new week on Monday’s Episode #481 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont opened with The Warmup for the Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Weekend NHL leftovers (McDavid hits 100 points and the Habs’ magic number to clinch is one, 2) Tocchet & Torts are out in Arizona and Columbus, 3) 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk reports the Province of BC has NOT approved the CFL’s Return To Play proposal, 4) Kentucky Derby champion Medina Spirit is caught in a doping scandal, 5) The Jays drop 2 of 3 at Houston, and 6) Big news coming today on the Sask sports scene!
  • 57-year old football player Darin Burns joined the show from Moncton to recap the Mustangs’ 24-0 win over Fredericton on the weekend, and his record-setting performance of appearing in six decades of competitive football. He revealed that he left the game at halftime with a hamstring injury but plans to play in Week 2 at St. John.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will win the NHL’s Hart Trophy as MVP this year – Connor McDavid, Auston Matthews, Sidney Crosby or Other? At press time, McDavid was leading with over 80% of the vote.
  • News broke near the end of Hour 1 that the Urban Family has sold the Saskatchewan Rush NLL team to the Priestner Family, owners of the Saskatoon Blades. Rod and Darren recounted stories of their time with the Urbans and the Rush over the past five seasons and pondered with viewers what lies ahead for the franchise, and the Urbans.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we debated with viewers Dunk’s revelation about the BC government and CFL, more on the Rush, and previewed Monday night’s huge NHL games.
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders #2 overall pick Nelson Lokombo of the Saskatchewan Huskies joined the show from his home in Abbottsford, BC. The linebacker reflected on draft day saying he was tipped off by his agent Rob Fry that the Riders were leaning towards taking him with their top selection. Lokombo reflected on his time with the Huskies and stated that he’s in a good position to be playing football either way in 2021 in the CFL or Canada West. He also gushed over the coaching he’s received from Huskies secondary coach and 3-time Grey Cup champion Paul Woldu!

He seemed extremely guarded in the interview, good luck to him, great pick by the Riders, hope to see him in Green and White for a long time, the kid can ball!
