FRIDAY COMMENTARY – THREE IN ONE

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)

IT’S FRIDAY … THAT MEANS THREE THOUGHTS IN ONE COMMENTARY.

THURSDAY SEEMED TO BE A “TIPPING POINT” DAY FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE IN THE CFL. ONTARIO JOINED BC AS PROVINCES SAYING THEY HAVE NOT APPROVED THE CFL’S RETURN TO PLAY PROPOSAL, DESPITE A REPORT OTHERWISE BY TSN.

I EXPECT THERE WILL BE ANOTHER PROVINCE OR TWO SAYING THE SAME THING BEFORE LONG.

IT WAS THE TIPPING POINT FOR A LOT OF FANS WHO’VE TOLD ME THEY’RE CHECKING OUT ON THE CFL SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY DON’T KNOW WHO TO BELIEVE ANYMORE.

WHAT A SHAME.

MEANWHILE TEAM STAFFERS AND EVEN PLAYERS HAVE BEEN FORCED TO INTO TAKING JOBS ELSEWHERE AND/OR DEALING WITH “LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL”.

TO A HAPPIER TOPIC. IT WAS NICE TO HAVE A GAME TO REALLY LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE NHL AND IT CAME IN THE FORM OF THE AVALANCHE/KINGS GAME IN DENVER.

A COLORADO WIN MEANT THEY’D CLINCH THE PRESIDENTS’ TROPHY AS THE NHL’S TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM WHILE A LOSS MEANT THAT HONOUR GOES TO MY VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS.

WELL, THANKS TO NHL CENTRE ICE ON ACCESS, I WAS ABLE TO WATCH THE GAME AND THE AVS EXPLODED FOR A 5-GOAL SECOND PERIOD ON THE WAY TO A 5-1 WIN AND THE PRESIDENTS’ TROPHY.

THEY CAN HAVE IT! MORE PEOPLE REMEMBER WHO WINS THE STANLEY CUP.

AND MY LAST THOUGHT IS HOW MUCH MY HEART ACHES WHENEVER I WATCH COLORADO STAR FORWARD TYSON JOST.

HE KICKSTARTED THE ONSLAUGHT FOR THE AVS LAST NIGHT AND HE WAS REGINA PATS PROPERTY THE YEARS THE TEAM WAS TRYING TO MAKE A RUN IN 2016 AND 2017.

HAD JOST SHOWED UP, THE PATS WOULD’VE WON THE THING IN A CAKEWALK. BUT HE DIDN’T, AND THEY DIDN’T.

LIFE GOES ON.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY.

Yesterday while on a treadmill I was notified the Roughriders had a key front office fella resign to run a golf course. I said, “ball game over. Time to buy a golf membership as there will be no CFL this summer.” The benevolent Dictator who runs the team has asked staff who are currently laid off to notify if they are looking for new jobs. When I was told that I said, “txt him back and ask if the letters F.O mean anything” NHL package is great. As a Maple Leafs diehard I look at the Avs whom I watched… Read more »

Very astute comment Mr. Rod Pedersen on Tyson Jost. I also believe if Tyson Jost would have joined the Regina Pats somewhere along the line they would be the 2018 Memorial Cup Champions, no doubt about it.

You do know the Avalanche could have sent Jost down just for that one specific moment and then he would have twinkled the Memorial Cup goal nets on behalf of the Regina Pats.

He played 65 games that season in Colorado in 2017-2018. Had 12 goals. How was it even a possibility that he would have played in Regina? Are you maybe thinking he could have played for them in 2016 for that run?
