TUESDAY COMMENTARY – BRING ON THE LIONS
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)
I THINK IT’S SAFE TO START TALKING ABOUT IT.
WITH MONDAY’S UNANIMOUS BOARD OF GOVERNORS VOTE TO INDEED KICKOFF THE 2021 CFL SEASON ON AUGUST 5, I THINK WE’RE IN THE CLEAR TO START TALKING ABOUT THE FUN CFL STUFF.
AND THAT’S THE GAMES, AND PERSONALITIES.
FROM WHAT I’VE BEEN TOLD, THE BC LIONS WILL VISIT THE SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS IN WEEK 1. YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO BUY A PROGRAM FOR THIS ONE.
OH WAIT. IT’S 2021 … YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE TO PRINT OFF THE ROSTERS AT HOME BEFORE YOU COME TO THE STADIUM.
BOTH TEAMS WILL LOOK QUITE A BIT DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST TIME YOU SAW THEM HOWEVER THE FACES OF THE FRANCHISE ARE STILL THERE: QUARTERBACKS CODY FAJARDO AND MIKE REILLY.
FORGIVE ME FOR NOT BEING ENTIRELY CLEAR ON WHO’S COME AND WHO’S GONE BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT IT’LL TAKE SOME GETTING USED TO SEEING RICK CAMPBELL ON THE LIONS SIDELINES AFTER SIX SEASONS WITH OTTAWA.
MAYBE A QUARTER.
THERE’S A LOT OF FACES GONE FROM THE RIDERS BUT WE CAN TALK ABOUT THAT ANOTHER DAY. BUT THE ONES YOU’LL BE HAPPY TO SEE AGAIN INCLUDE SHAQ EVANS, WILLIAM POWELL, ED GAINEY AND MIKE EDEM.
TRAINING CAMP IS REALLY WHERE YOU GET RE-ACQUAINTED WITH THESE GUYS AND NOW THAT’S JUST WEEKS AWAY.
WHAT I’VE SEEN OVER THE PAST WEEK HERE IS EVERYONE PULLING TOGETHER TO GET BACK ON TO THE FIELD. THE PLAYERS AGREED TO THE OWNERS CONCESSIONS AND THE OWNERS BIT THE BULLET IN ORDER TO PLAY, KNOWING THEY’RE STILL IN LINE TO LOSE MILLIONS.
REALLY NOW IT’S UP TO THE PLAYERS. THEY NEED TO FOLLOW ALL THE COVID PROTOCOLS IN ORDER TO KEEP THIS THING ON THE RAILS AND GET A SEASON COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY.
AS FOR THE FANS, WELL, WE ALWAYS KNEW THEY’D DO THEIR PART.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY
I hope the fans do indeed do their part, get vaccinated people.
