THURSDAY RUNDOWN: FLAMES, NHL TALK
We were back at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino for Thursday’s Episode #678 of The RP Show! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off at the Event Centre with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The NHL announces Covid-caused schedule changes, and Wednesday’s NHL action, 2) A Panthers/Oilers preview, 3) Linebacker Adam Bighill re-signs with Winnipeg. When will Zach Collaros re-sign? 4) Wednesday’s WHL results plus the Pats & Wheat Kings game on Friday has been postponed, 5) Antonio Brown says there’s nothing wrong with his mental health, and 6) NFL Division Playoff preview and join us at Shark Club Deerfoot Meadows in Calgary on Sunday for our Watch Party for BOTH games – LA at Tampa Bay and Buffalo at Kansas City. RP, Moose & Brock Shepherd will host and give away plenty of great prizes!
- FlamesTV host Brendan Parker joined the show and analyzed Calgary’s 5-1 win over Florida on Tuesday. The Saskatoon product answered several questions from viewers and feels the Flames will be buyers prior to the NHL Trade Deadline. Regarding the new schedule and Calgary poised to play seven games in 12 nights over the original Olympic break, he said the players are just glad to get the games in. Regarding a new hockey arena for Calgary, Brendan feels a deal will be reached.
- In Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 beer we were joined at Grey Eagle by Sportsnet Flames host Ryan Leslie. His was a longer visit and he feels it’s a crime that Canadian NHL teams are being forced to play before limited crowds while US teams get full houses. Regarding the arena drama, Leslie feels Flames fans are due for some good news and he too feels a deal will be reach. Regarding the best arena in the NHL, Ryan opted for Detroit’s new facility and said Edmonton’s is overrated.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Would you attend an NHL game if unable to purchase food & drink? Around 60% of respondents said yes.
- Wednesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was TSN’s Jermain Franklin. Thursday’s winner was Ryan Leslie.
