THURSDAY RUNDOWN: HRUDEY, KEENAN, DANBURY TRASHERS AND MORE!
It was a star-studded Episode #699 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – on Thursday at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino in Calgary! Read on for the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off covering these Quick Six show topics in The Warmup: 1) Canada wins gold in womens hockey at the Olympics but is OUT in mens and womens curling, 2) NHL Wednesday games – the Flames win their eighth in a row, 3) WHL Wednesday games – the Warriors are hot! 4) The #1 topic in the NFL right now is Brian Flores’ discrimination lawsuit, 5) The Stampeders sign receiver Jordan Williams-Lambert and what that means for the Riders, and 6) Other Olympics chatter.
- Netflix star A.J. Galante of the now-defunct Danbury Trashers pro hockey team joined the show from New Jersey for an update on life following the smash hit series. Galante promoted his upcoming Ice Wars event which is basically an Ultimate Hockey Fighting Championship, similar to the one held in Prince George in 2006! Galante’s also partnered up with the WWE and Devils great Mike Rupp, and explained some of the exciting promotions on the horizon.
- A major thrill came in Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 Beer where we were joined by NHL great, Hockey Night In Canada analyst and Calgary Flames TV colour commentator Kelly Hrudey. Kelly stayed for a 40-minute visit where he detailed many Islanders and Kings stories, and how famed Mental Coach Tony Robbins got Kelly’s career back on track in 1992. Hrudey went deep into his own Mental Health struggles and it was a very encouraging, inspirational message for our viewers.
- Saskatchewan Rush GM Derek Keenan joined the show for a very revealing interview on the 2-5 NLL club. Keenan admitted the team has more losses already than they normally do in an entire season and said they’ve worked tirelessly to turn things around. Keenan said they’ve made very few roster tweaks since they believe in the group they have. The Rush visit Colorado on Sunday and host the Mammoth next week at SaskTel Centre.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: How do you feel about Canada’s performance so far at the Beijing Olympics – Satisfied, Not Satisfied or Meh? At press time, Meh was leading by a large margin.
- Wednesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was John Hufnagel. Thursday’s was Kelly Hrudey.
