PATS BLANK TIGERS 2-0
Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats blanked the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers by a 2-0 score on Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre, thanks to a 21-save shutout from Kelton Pyne and a late power play goal from Ryker Evans.
The Pats dominated the game from start to finish, but were deadlocked in a 0-0 score until the 13:31 mark of the third, when Evans point shot beat Tigers goaltender Garin Bjorklund cleanly. Connor Bedard scored an empty-net goal with 1:21 to go to seal the deal, notching his 32nd goal of the season and increasing his point streak to nine games.
Bjorklund was the biggest reason for the 0-0 score before Evans’ goal, stopping all 30 shots he faced in the first two periods. He finished the night with 39 saves on 40 shots.
In the Pats crease, 16-year-old Kelton Pyne recorded a shutout for the second time in just three Western Hockey League starts. He only faced 10 shots in the first two periods, but had to make 11 stops in the final frame to finish the night without a single blemish.
The final shots on goal tally favoured the Pats 41-21.
Regina had seven power play opportunities, going 1-for-7, and went a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill for the second consecutive contest.
