WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: ROD BLACK, MIGHTY MOUTH, TIGER TALK AND MORE!

We changed things up on Wednesday’s Episode #732 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – but as usual, welcomed our buddies to tackle the day’s hottest sports topics! Read on for the rundown:

  • With Moose Dupont attending business meetings, RP was joined by veteran sportscaster Bryn “Mighty Mouth” Griffith out of Edmonton as co-host and they got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) April 6 marks the fourth anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash and the guys gave their thoughts and reflections, 2) Tuesday NHL leftovers including the wild Maple Leafs/Panthers game in Sunrise, 3) Why can’t the Leafs win the Stanley Cup?, 4) Tiger says he’s officially “a go” for The Masters!, 5) The Blue Jays have left Florida to prepare for Friday’s season-opener against Texas in Toronto, and 6) Raptors talk and Dub Hub.
  • The guys spent a good while examining the plight of the Maple Leafs and the Oilers, who reside in pressure-cooker Canadian markets. Is that the reason why they struggle to find success? Bryn figures it’s simply very difficult to win in today’s NHL while RP figures the “pressure” excuse is just an excuse, and these teams simply can’t figure out a way to be successful.
  • As usual a viewer chimed in with some CFL-related thoughts and Bryn said that in a few short months, new Edmonton Elks President Victor Cui has turned the whole town back onto the Elks. Although some still grumble about the name change, Griffiths advised that they get over it. He predicts great times ahead for the Cui/Chris Jones combo.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will win The Masters – Tiger Woods, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas or the field? At press time, the field was leading with 49% of the vote.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by famed Canadian sportscaster Rod Black who recapped Saturday night’s Moose Jaw Kinsmen Sports Dinner featuring himself, Mike Vanderjagt, Shayne Corson, Darcy Tucker and Duane Ward! Black said the biggest success was making their flight home on Sunday morning! The guys then got into the Masters discussion and Blackie said he’s gotten to know Tiger Woods quite well over the years and said he’s a “great guy”. He explained how Tiger worked his way onto the Mount Rushmore of sports icons. Regarding the Masters field, Black said he’d never bet against Woods.
  • Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Rick Vaive. Wednesday’s winner was Rod Black.
