THURSDAY RUNDOWN: ENDING THE WEEK!

It was our final show before Easter weekend and we covered a lot of ground on Episode #738 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino! Here’s the rundown:

• RP and co-host Lee Genier (award-winning sports exec) got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is pulled just shy of a perfect game, 2) The Blue Jays down the Yankees 6-4, 3) Wednesday NHL leftovers and Vegas visits Calgary Thursday night!, 4) RP’s NHL Top 5 are: Colorado, Florida, Carolina, Toronto and Calgary, 5) The Bottom 5 are Chicago, Philadelphia, Montreal, Seattle and Arizona, and 6) The USFL kicks off this weekend, the XFL announces their 2023 coaches and the Raptors open the playoffs against the 76ers.
• The viewers asked if we could make the show a defacto Football Friday and the hosts obliged. Lee Genier spent 20 seasons as VP of Sales & Marketing with the Calgary Stampeders so the guys surveyed the CFL landscape and discussed spring leagues. Genier finds it interesting that the XFL would announce their coaches the same week the USFL is kicking off!
• In Hour 2 we were joined by WHL Commissioner Ron Robison who previewed the Dub playoffs, looked ahead to the Memorial Cup in St. John, NB, and the career of Connor Bedard. (The Indian Head, SK product feels Fran Huck is still the greatest Pat ever but marvels at Bedard’s career).
• Calgary Herald/Sun Flames beat writer Kristen Anderson joined us at Grey Eagle to preview Thursday’s game versus the Golden Knights, and the fact the Flames could clinch a playoff spot with a victory. She discussed the rise, fall, and rise again of the Flames during her time covering them over the past decade, and dealings with Darryl Sutter.
• Lacrosse Link NLL insider Stephen Stamp joined the show to preview this weekend’s NLL match-ups and playoff races.
• Wednesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Ryan Ballantine. Thursday’s was Ron Robison.
