FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: MO EGGER, DANNY AUSTIN AND MORE!

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron on The RP Show and we tackled all the latest football news on Episode #742 live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino. Here’s the rundown:

• RP and co-host Lee Genier (award-winning sports exec) got things going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Round 1 of the NFL Draft went Thursday night with much fanfare but little sizzle, 2) The Raptors season ends with a Game 6 loss to the 76ers, 3) Thursday NHL leftovers, 4) The Blue Jays blank the Red Sox 1-0 and get set to host the Houston Astros Friday night, 5) CFL rule changes discussion and pre-Draft talk, and 6A) The weekend junior hockey playoff hype, and 6B) Our Bet Regal contest where we asked viewers to text in their featured weekend game to 902-518-3033, pick the winner, and be entered to win a Bet Regal prize pack.
• Genier spent 20 seasons with the Calgary Stampeders and the hosts dove into comparisons of the NFL and CFL Drafts and Rod asked if the NFL remains competition for the CFL? Lee said no. The chat covered two segments and drew plenty of opinions from the viewers.
• ESPN 1530 Cincinnati’s Mo Egger joined the show to recap Night 1 of the NFL Draft and the Bengals selection of Michigan DB Daxton Hill with their first round pick. He was adorned in an RP Show bunnyhug. Mo wondered aloud why any NFL fans would want to attend the Draft? Rod said ‘Why not?’ and the pair agreed to take their shows to next year’s Draft in Kansas City. Egger also discussed the Bengals’ crushing loss in the Super Bowl in Los Angeles and feels it’ll be a tough task to get back to the championship game this season.
• In Hour 2 we were joined by Calgary Sun/Herald CFL writer Danny Austin. The born-and-raised Torontonian applauded his Raptors for a fine season. The guys then devoted a full 40 minutes to CFL chatter and agreed they’re both eagerly anticipating Tuesday’s CFL Draft. They talked about the prospects, team needs, and Danny said the top three teams in the CFL right now are: 1) Winnipeg, 2) Calgary, 3) Toronto.
• Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Calgary Cavalry FC Head Coach & GM Tommy Wheeldon. Friday’s was Danny Austin!
