FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: DAVE DICKENSON & MORE!

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we tackled all the hot goings-on with a VERY special guest at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino! Read on for the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Thursday NHL Playoff leftovers (RP asked the goalies to stop diving), 2) Joel Quenneville has NOT requested a return to coaching from Commissioner Gary Bettman, 3) The Jays fall 6-5 at Cleveland, 4) CFL/CFLPA CBA talks “hit a wall”, 5) Jerry Jones is hospitalized in a car accident in Dallas, and 6) A huge night in junior hockey playoff action with Game 7 of the SJHL Final in Estevan, Game 5’s in Alberta and Manitoba and two WHL series openers.
• The hosts spent the balance of Hour 1 going through the reported impasse in CFL labour talks and had plenty of viewer input. It got heated at times!
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Do you expect a labour stoppage before the 2022 CFL season? At press time, over 70% of respondents voted no.
• In Hour 2 we were joined by Calgary Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson who quipped off air, “You’ve got me for as long as you want Rod! Seeing as you only get to interview me once per decade. Haha”. The younger Dickenson covered all aspects of his football career, the spirited rivalry with his older brother and best friend Craig and explained why his hometown of Great Falls, MT is the Football Capital of the U.S. Northwest. The guys also talked about Dave’s rivalries with Saskatchewan as a member of the B.C. Lions and Calgary Stampeders, and gave an outlook for the 2022 season. The pair steer clear of CFL labour talks, remaining hopeful that a deal will get done on time.
