DUB ROUND-UP: BLOWOUT SATURDAY
WINNIPEG – Jack Finley scored two goals and Zachary Benson notched a goal and added three assists as the Winnipeg Ice dominated the Moose Jaw Warriors 7-0 Saturday to take a 2-0 series lead in their WHL playoff series.
Daniel Hauser stopped all 27 shots he faced to get the shutout.
Winnipeg was the WHL’s top regular-season team, amassing 111 points and winning 53 games and looked the part opening scoring with Finley’s first of the night with the game just 2:49 old.
He would get his second less than a minute later to put the Ice up 2-0, setting the tone for the rout to come.
The series will shift to Moose Jaw for Game 3 on Tuesday.
In other playoff action Saturday around the WHL, the Edmonton Oil Kings blanked the Red Deer Rebels 5-0 to take a 2-0 series lead, the Kamloops Blazers defeated the Vancouver Giants 4-3 to go up 2-0 and the Portland Winterhawks kicked off their second-round series with the Seattle Thunderbirds winning 4-2.
