TUES CENTENNIAL CUP, DUB ROUND-UP

The host Estevan Bruins were eliminated from playoff contention at the Centennial Cup presented by Tim Hortons in Estevan, SK on Tuesday by virtue of Longueuil’s 6-1 win over the Red Lake Miners in the day’s evening game.

Due to a 1-2 start to the round robin, the Bruins needed Longueuil to lose that game, but also to beat the Brooks Bandits Wednesday night for a chance to play on the weekend. However Owen Stammer scored four times in the win for the Quebec squad, rendering Wednesday’s Estevan/Brooks game meaningless.

In other Tuesday games, Jacob Vockler scored the shootout winner as Flin Flon (3-1) defeated Dauphin (2-0-1) 2-1 at Affinity Place. In the day’s first game, T.J. Hughes scored three goals and the Brooks Bandits (3-0) struck six times on the powerplay in a 9-1 rout of Pickering (3-1) who suffered their first loss.

On Wednesday’s schedule, Summerside (2-1) faces Ottawa (1-1-1) at 12 pm MT, Soo (0-3) takes on Dauphin (2-0-1) at 4 pm MT and Estevan (1-2) faces Brooks (3-0) at 7:30 pm MT. All games can be viewed at HockeyCanada.ca.

SEATTLE – The Kamloops Blazers three goals from Logan Stankoven and two from Daylan Kuefler as they defeated the Thunderbirds 6-3 in Seattle tonight to take a 2-1 lead in their Western Hockey League playoff series.
