MONDAY RUNDOWN: BROADWAY BERNIE AND CFL PREVIEW
After a whirlwind sports weekend we cracked the lid on a brand new week with Episode #772 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont got things going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tampa Bay’s back in the East Final after beating the NY Rangers 3-2, 2) The Oilers look to avoid a sweep Monday night, 3) The Canada Mens Soccer Team standoff, 4) NBA/CEBL weekend play, 5) CFL preseason reflections, 6A) Buffalo leads the NLL Final 1-0 over Colorado, 6B) The WHL Final is 1-1 between Edmonton and Seattle, and 6C) Some Tampa Bay Rays players decline wearing the team’s Pride uniforms.
- With Week 1 in the CFL at hand, the hosts previewed this week’s games and storylines. RP feels the Stampeders beating their opponents by a combined score of 78-13 sent a message to the rest of the CFL, and said Chris Jones has made the Elks must-see TV!
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will the Edmonton/Colorado series end Monday night? At press time, 67% of respondents said yes.
- NHL Ambassador Bernie Nicholls of Bet Regal made his regular weekly appearance to recap the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He agreed that the NY/TB series isn’t as exciting as the COL/EDM affair. Regarding the surge by the Rangers under Gerard Gallant, Bernie feels Gerard has simply let the players be themselves. On the Evander Kane 1-game suspension, Nicholls felt it was appropriate and said “Payback’s a bitch!” for Nazem Kadri being knocked out of the series. The Kings and Rangers great discussed his playoff wars, concurring with Wayne Gretzky that they never had goalie coaches or strength coaches in the 1980s and, “We didn’t have charter flights either!”
- Friday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Victor Cui. Monday’s was Broadway Bernie Nicholls!
- NEW: If you missed the show you can catch the replay at 10 pm PT/11 pm MT on Game+ TV, visit our YouTube Channel or enjoy the podcast wherever you find your podcasts.

They had Marcel Dionne, Luc Robitaille, Jimmy Carson, Dave Taylor, Bernie Nichols, Larry Murphy etc. – a lot of good players, and really neat uniforms. Unless you had a satellite dish then forget it you didn’t get them on CBC Hockey Night in Canada. My point is Bernie Nichols was a legit great player. Gretzky got there and he went from an automatic 30 goal scorer to almost 80 in one season by keeping his stick on the ice.… Read more »
