WEDNESDAY RUNDOWN: ON THE BUTTON

We dropped some big news on Wednesday and welcomed more big name guests on Episode #773 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Read on for the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont got it going by officially announcing The RP Show will now air for four hours daily on Game+ TV across Canada and the USA (live at 12 pm ET and replayed at 10 pm PT/11 pm MT)! Then we got into the Quick Six show topics: 1) Tampa Bay evens the NHL Eastern Conference Final at 2-2 with a 4-1 home win over the NY Rangers, 2) The Blue Jays spank Kansas City 7-0, 3) DUB and World Womens U18 results, 4) CFL’s Bet Regal Grey Cup odds in Week 1 appear this way: WPG-SK-TOR-HAM-CGY-MTL-OTT-EDM-BC, 5) CFL Week 1 games preview, and 6) NFL Notes, Canada’s Mens Soccer team returns to play and the RBC Open is set to get underway.
• TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joined the show from the roadside of Toronto’s Don Valley Expressway for a 2-segment deep dive on the Centennial Cup, 2022 NHL Draft preview and a post-mortem on the Oilers. Rod asked Craig which he enjoys more: prospect scouting/mock drafts or game analysis? Button responded that he enjoys them both equally. They also discussed changes at the Memorial Cup over the years.
• Sirius/XM NHL radio host and Daily Faceoff analyst Mike McKenna joined the show from St. Louis. The former NHL goalie figures the Oilers should keep Mike Smith but compliment him with a sturdier back-up such as Ville Husso. McKenna is a former TV analyst with the Vegas Golden Knights and said the chances are “slim” that Vegas will sign pending free agent goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. McKenna feels The Flower will sign with either Minnesota or Pittsburgh, and that Fleury’s split with Vegas was just too nasty to reconcile.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in Week 1 of the CFL – MTL/CGY, OTT/WPG, HAM/SK or EDM/CGY? At press time, the Ticats/Riders clash was leading.
• Tuesday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Gene Principe. Wednesday’s was Craig Button!
