FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: FORDE, STEPHEN & MORE!

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we tackled all the latest football topics on Episode #776 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Here’s the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Stampeders opened the season with a 30-27 last-minute win over Montreal, 2) The Blue Bombers host the RedBlacks Friday night and will unveil their 2021 Grey Cup banner, 3) Tom Brady almost joined the Miami Dolphins in January!, 4) The Tampa Bay Lightning lead the NHL Eastern Final 3-2 following a 3-1 victory at the NY Rangers, 5) Canada routs Curacao 4-0 in Mens Soccer, and 6) It’s Day 2 of the RBC Open.
• Calgary Stampeders radio voice Mark Stephen joined the show to discuss Thursday’s win and said he was never worried despite a 24-14 halftime deficit! Mark admitted it wasn’t a Grade A display in all three phases but explained good teams find a way to win. Bo Levi Mitchell didn’t finish the game but it was revealed he suffered a mild ankle injury but is expected to start Week 2 at Hamilton. Mark and Rod wondered where all the criticism of Bo is coming from? The pair agreed it’ll only serve to motivate him even more. A viewer asked if BLM belongs on the Mount Rushmore of CFL quarterbacks, but Rod said no.
• CFL On TSN colour commentator Duane Forde joined the show from Winnipeg where he’ll call the Friday Night Football clash between the Blue Bombers and RedBlacks. Fordey said there’s plenty to watch for in the game including Jeremiah Masoli’s Ottawa debut and how Bomber QB Zach Collaros performs having skipped the preseason. Duane also previewed Saturday’s CFL doubleheader featuring Hamilton at Saskatchewan and Edmonton at BC. Duane will be behind the microphone for the Elks/Lions battle.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Would the NHL like to have a Canadian team win the Stanley Cup? At press time 70% of respondents said no.
• Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was golf analyst Luke Elvy. Friday’s was Duane Forde!
