TUESDAY RUNDOWN: NATHAN ROURKE, NFL, NHL & MORE

Everything is happening in sports! And we covered it all on Tuesday’s Episode #778 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV. Here’s the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup and breaking news that BC quarterback Nathan Rourke has been named the CFL’s Top Performer for Week 1 (it would be a theme throughout the show). Then we got into these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays spanked the Orioles 11-1, 2) The Edmonton Oil Kings capture the WHL championship, 3) The OHL championship series is going to Game 7 between Windsor and Hamilton, 4) Winnipeggers are trying to woo Barry Trotz to the Jets, 5) Golden State goes up 3-2 over Boston in the NBA Finals, and 6) The Colorado Avalanche are favoured to win the Stanley Cup.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who should win the Conn Smythe Trophy as NHL Playoff MVP – Nikita Kucherov, Cale Makar, Nathan McKinnon or Other? At press time, Cale Makar was leading with over 40% of the vote.
• The guys spent a long time discussing Nathan Rourke and if it’s important to point out that he’s “Canadian” in every press release and news story? Also, Victoria and Oakville are fighting over which is Rourke’s hometown. Rod also wondered aloud if a star Canadian QB is the story the CFL most needs at the moment?
• Sauga 960 talk host Mike Richards joined the show and immediately launched into the Nathan Rourke story and said the Lions pivot is the CFL’s next big thing. Richards feels that Rourke is no flash in the pan, and the guys debated CFL Canadian QBs from days gone by. With Sauga 960 being the Voice of the Ticats and CEBL’s Hamilton Honey Badgers, Mike and Rod agreed that Canada is on the cusp of a major wave of Canadian sports popularity.
• In Hour 2 we were joined by Sirius/XM NFL Radio host Zig Fracassi. Zig delved into the the Tom Brady-to-Miami story which almost happened, and the pressure on Tua Tagovailoa in Year 3 with the Dolphins. Fracassi also wondered if there’s any way QB Deshaun Watson can play in 2022 given all the lawsuits against him, and if the Browns will be able to woo back Baker Mayfield? It was a great NFL update.
• Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Eddie Steele. Tuesday’s was Mike Richards, as always!
