Is the Jays postgame Gatorade thing getting old?, 2) Hamilton beats Shawinigan 4-3 in OT in the Memorial Cup semifinal, 3) The Hockey Hall of Fame 2022 induction class is announced. Why no Theo?, 4) Toronto FC will face the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 26 in Vancouver for the Canadian Soccer crown (Voyageurs Cup), 5) The Week 4 CFL Power Rankings are out 1 – Winnipeg, 2 – BC, 3 – Calgary, 4 – Saskatchewan, 5 – Montreal, 6 – Ottawa, 7 – Toronto, 8 – Hamilton, 9 – Edmonton, and 6) The fate of Cleveland QB Deshaun Watson.
- Newly-named Canadian Football Hall of Famer Ricky Ray joined the show from his home in Redding, CA and a few years into retirement, he said he’s still enjoying life; backpacking with his kids and enjoying summers with his parents and family. Ricky explained that Matt Dunigan gave him the call to the Hall, and that was “cool”. Ricky went through his career and said it was shocking to be traded from Edmonton to Toronto in 2012 but he made the best of it. Of his four Grey Cup wins, he said the 2017 Grey Cup victory for the Argos over the Stampeders in Ottawa was extra special (he was wearing a 105th Grey Cup hat). Ray reflected on rooming with Cody Fajardo with the 2017 Argonauts and hopes some his habits rubbed off. Regarding mentoring young quarterbacks, Ricky advised that “perfect practice makes perfect” and consistency is key.
- Calgary Flames Stanley Cup winner Tim Hunter joined the show live at Grey Eagle and he reflected on the Stanley Cup playoffs, said the future is still bright for the Calgary Flames, and told old 1980s fight stories to the viewers’ delight! Hunter said the toughest guy he ever faced was Nick Fotiu. Tim also previewed the Calgary Stampede and gave a review of the movie Top Gun – Maverick. As a licensed pilot and CF18 Snowbird vet, Hunter said the movie was incredibly realistic and that the original Top Gun is his favourite movie of all-time.
- With the Saskatchewan Rattlers home to the Newfoundland Growlers Tuesday evening, the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will you attend a CEBL game this year? At press time 70% of respondents said no.
- Monday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Darren Dreger. Tuesday’s was Rick Ray!
