MONDAY RUNDOWN: MARINO TALK, STAMPEDE & BLUE JAYS!

Our 15th week at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino began Monday with Episode #796 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports & Entertainment Talk – on Game+ TV! Read on for the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) It’s Day 4 of the Calgary Stampede, 2) What’s wrong with the Blue Jays? They were swept in Seattle and are clinging to the final wildcard berth, 3) NHL free agency opens Wednesday. What’s the buzz?, 4) What should happen to Roughriders DL Garrett Marino after knocking QB Jeremiah Masoli out of the game on Friday night?, 5) Other Week 6 CFL buzz, and 6) In the Canadian Premier League on Sunday, Valour downed the Wanderers 1-0. On Tuesday night, Calgary FC hosts Halifax.
• The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will the Blue Jays make the playoffs this season? At press time over 60% of respondents said yes.
• Edmonton Elks play-by-play voice Morley Scott joined the show to discuss his team’s 49-6 home loss to Calgary in Week 5. He said Elks boss Chris Jones is treating the whole season like one big training camp. Morley also explained the club’s decision to start QB Taylor Cornelius Thursday at Montreal, and why the club’s gone through four QBs already this season. Regarding the Oilers and free agency, Morley says the thing they need most is a goalie. Scott did 16 seasons of radio colour commentary with the Oilers back in the day.
• In Hour 2 we kibitzed with the viewers about all the day’s sports topics, but particularly Garrett Marino and Rod said fans of other teams shouldn’t be allowed to have an opinion on his suspension. Moose feels Marino’s antics on his way off the field should be considered when handing down punishment.
• TSN 1260 Edmonton’s Jason Gregor joined the show next and did a deep dive on the Oilers and said they’ll look a lot different this fall without Duncan Keith, Zack Kassian and perhaps Evander Kane and Mike Smith. However he feels the best players are still there. It was a very eloquent Oilers update from the Edmonton afternoon sports talk host.
