WEDNESDAY DUB ROUND-UP: PATS TAME CHIEFS

Regina, Sask. — The Regina Pats battled back from three goals down to beat the visiting Spokane Chiefs 4-3 in a shootout Wednesday night at the Brandt Centre. It was the Chiefs’ first visit to Regina since October 17, 2018, which was a 4-0 Spokane shutout.

The Chiefs had a 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission before the Pats turned it around and scored the regulation’s final three markers to send the game into overtime. Neither team connected in the extra frame and the game went to a shootout, where Alexander Suzdalev and Tanner Howe both scored to send the Pats to victory.

Alexander Suzdalev (18th), Tanner Howe (21st), and Zane Rowan (first) scored in regulation for the Pats. Drew Sim stopped 26 of 29 shots directed his way in the game’s 65 minutes and was perfect in the shootout picking up his seventh straight win.

Sage Weinstein (fourth), Chase Bertholet (11th), and Cade Hayes (sixth) replied for the Chiefs in the loss. Cooper Michaluk kicked out 26 of 29 shots before surrendering a pair in the shootout.

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – Chase Pauls and Cole Shepard both recorded a goal and an assist as the Lethbridge Hurricanes won their fifth straight, defeating the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-1 on Wednesday night.

Tristan Zandee and Logan Wormald added the others for Lethbridge (19-11-0-1). Harrison Meneghin stopped 26 shots.

Nathan Pilling scored the lone goal for Edmonton (4-26-1). Kolby Hay made 44 saves.

Pilling knotted the game at 1-1 12:02 into the second period before Pauls kick-started a run of three unanswered goals from the Hurricanes. Shepard opened the scoring 10:07 into the second.

EVERETT, WA. – Jackson Berezowski scored two goals as Everett (16-12-1) held off a Tri-City (14-14-0) rally to win. The Silvertips were up 4-0 after an Eric Jameison third-period goal before the Americans scored three unanswered. Berezowski sealed it with a late empty netter.

PRINCE ALBERT, SASK. – Shane Smith scored what proved to be the winner goal as Medicine Hat (12-16-4-1) edged Prince Albert (10-19-2). Smith’s marker came with 3:31 remaining to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead before Sloan Stanick made it a one-goal game with 46 seconds left.

SWIFT CURRENT, SASK. – Andrew Cristall had two goals and two assists as Kelowna (11-13-3) defeated Swift Current (12-15-0-1). Rockets goaltender Jari Kykkanen made 47 saves as the Broncos outshot Kelowna 49-31.

VICTORIA – Jaden Lipinski recorded two goals and one assist as Vancouver (12-14-3-2) topped Victoria (5-23-3). Tied at 1-1 after the first period, the Giants scored four unanswered goals with Ty Thorpe capping the run 4:12 into the third.
