We cracked the lid on a brand new week and welcomed some special guests to Episode #928 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – Monday on Game+ TV, WQEE Radio and YouTube Live! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: *BREAKING NEWS – NHL legend Bobby Hull passes away at age 84. The panel gave their memories.* 1) Philadelphia and Kansas City will meet in Super Bowl LVII and there are plenty of storylines!, 2) NHL weekend leftovers including EBUG Matt Berlin’s Oilers debut Saturday night, 3) The NFL Pro Bowl will feature a flag football game and skills competition, 4) NFL coaching moves including Kellen Moore to the Chargers and Vic Fangio to the Dolphins, 5) Monday in the NBA features the Raptors at Suns and Hawks at Trailblazers, and 6) Dub Hub – the Medicine Hat Tigers spoil a terrific effort by the Pats Connor Bedard.
  • Award-winning Leader Post columnist Rob Vanstone joined the show with his popular dog Candy and gave his thoughts on all these topics, and more. RV said as a kid at Massey School in Regina, he was always on the lookout for a Bobby Hull hockey card. As a staunch Winnipeg Jets fan, Rob previewed Monday night’s Blues/Jets match-up. Regarding local sports, Vanstone feels there was never much anticipation that Bo Levi Mitchell would sign in Saskatchewan, and said Bedard Mania has firmly gripped Southern Saskatchewan.
  • In Hour 2 we were joined by Calgary Stampeders Voice Mark Stephen. He gave his thoughts on All Star offensive lineman Derek Dennis re-signing with the Stamps and announcing the 2023 season will be his last. Mark reports that not much has changed with the Stamps despite John Hufnagel stepping down as GM. He also offered that it was a “miss” by CFL schedule-makers not to have Bo Levi and the Tiger-Cats visiting Calgary this season. Regarding the Calgary Flames, Stephen said it’s been a disappointing up and down season, and that the club has lots to figure out if they plan to make the playoffs comfortably.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question had to do with Round 3 of our NHL Retro Reverse Jersey Bracket. The question was – whose retro reverse jersey is better: Devils or Penguins? At press time, Pittsburgh was winning with over 70% of the vote.
  • Friday’s Rockstar of the Day was Tori Gurley. Monday’s was Candy Vanstone!
