It’s Tuesday and you know what that means – time for another edition of the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First, the good: How about this – Monday night was the Regina Pats’ annual Have A Heart Night with Western Pizza, where the Pats players delivered pizzas with all delivery fees going to Heart Disease research.

Imagine Connor Bedard coming to your door, delivering a pizza! That would be a dream come true for me.

That’s as good as it gets.

Next, the great: It is CFL Free Agency Day. And if I may be so bold, the CFL should have their free agency open on Valentines Day every year. It would certainly make it easy to remember!

The question now is, will it be a case of broken hearts today? Or matches made in heaven?

Fans all across the CFL are tremendously excited for today and we’re pumped that the RP Show goes to air right when the market opens; 11 am CT. No one will have better coverage than us.

For Rider fans, today and the days which follow will make or break the team this year.

As they say, Grey Cups are won in the off-season so now is GM Jeremy O’Day’s chance.

Plus we’ll finally get confirmation, or denial, of the reports like Trevor Harris to the Roughriders and Cody Fajardo to the Alouettes.

And lastly, the ugly: They might not have any choice but to build a new hockey arena in Calgary.

That’s because Flames fans might burn down the old one.

For a team that should be playing like their pants are on fire, the Calgary Flames let another one slip away last night, losing 4-3 in overtime in Ottawa.

Calgary allowed two goals in the last couple minutes, then let Tim Stutzle score in overtime for the Sens.

Oddly enough, the loser point propelled the Flames into the final playoff spot with 28 games to go. That’s plenty of time for the Flames to get their act together. But from what I can see, many of the Calgary media and fans are writing them off.

But as for last night, that was just plain ugly.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

The last time I talked to a Regina Pats player was 1992 when I was 17. The last time I spoke to a Regina Pats coach was 1988 when I told Dennis Sobchuck “you guys gotta get the power play goin'” to which he replied “yeah yeah we’re working on it” Beyond that this is my 40th year attending games. I would feel beyond creepy shoving my way to meet a kid. I admire the artistry of that certain player and as Crosby/Oveckin age out out he will be the reason to keep the center ice package. Past that adults… Read more »

Well he is the author of Love & Courage: My Story of Family, Resilience, and Overcoming The Unexpected….I mean c’mon we’re talking about a living legend here. This is the guy calling out the grocery chains. Remember I met Ricky Skaggs at the Casino and mentioned I got his tape as a birthday present in 1985. I also met Brett Hitman Hart AND Bobby Jurasin. I’m impressed with the young man and he’s the best I’ve ever seen. Having said that there is also a reason why I never ever approach Dale Derkatch at The Cooperators. We must never get… Read more »
