We ran it back on Tuesday’s Episode #943 of The RP Show – Daytime Sportstalk – in the bunker at IKS Media where it all began! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Monday NHL leftovers including the Flames’ big home loss against the Flyers, 2) Connor Bedard hit 105 points in Monday’s Pats 4-2 win over Lethbridge and isn’t slowing down, 3) Moose was live from the Canada Winter Games in PEI and gave an update, 4) Did you watch the XFL 2023 kickoff on the weekend?, 5) NBA All Star recap, and 6) Tonight’s games in the NHL.
  • Regina Pats Head Coach & GM John Paddock joined the bunker and gave a deep analysis on his team’s playoff run and the pending NHL Trade Deadline (John’s a former Head Coach of the Winnipeg Jets and Ottawa Senators). John feels his team could make some noise in the playoffs if they get healthy. Regarding the hysteria around Connor Bedard, Paddock said “It is bananas” and projected what Connor’s life in the NHL will be like, depending which team takes him #1 overall. Regarding the NHL, John said he’s closely watching what the Oilers and Jets do and said whomever comes out of the Western Conference will enjoy an easier road than the East.
  • Regina Pats Voice Dante DeCaria was next up in the bunker and as a former Blue Jays intern and minor league baseball broadcaster, gave his outlook for the 2023 Blue Jays. The Toronto product said John Paddock covered enough of Connor Bedard’s on-ice exploits but wanted to pass along that the Bedard family is the nicest people he’s ever encountered in his sports career. Dante said it’s sad that it’s all coming to an end in 15 games plus playoffs.
  • Hall of Fame Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Mike McCullough joined the bunker in Hour 2 for an expansive football chat including the XFL kickoff and CFL free agency. Mike said he caught a bit of the XFL but is unclear on the rules, however he’ll be watching more games as the season goes along. McCullough doesn’t favour merging with the XFL if the league falls on money troubles, and favours Canadian expansion instead. Mike played his college football at St. Francis Xavier and said sports fans are nuts in Nova Scotia. McCullough also joked that the greatest era of Roughrider football coincided with his tenure with the team! 😀
  • Producer Clark joined the set for the final two segments and discussed the Bedard craze, and examined the Ryan O’Reilly trade for his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs over the weekend.
