COMMENTARY: NO LEAD IS SAFE
(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on Cat Country 98 & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First the good: I may like hockey the most but football really is the best sport on the planet, for too many reasons than we have time to list here.
The results of Monday Night Football proved again that no lead is safe, and you can’t take an opponent lightly on the gridiron. Both games would register as upsets, as Tennessee stunned the Dolphins 28-27 here in Miami and the Giants upset the Packers 24-22 at the Meadowlands.
The Titans became the first team to post a comeback win in the final three minutes when trailing by 14 points since 2016.
Lots to discuss today on the RP Show.
Next the great: The tributes to John Frenzy continue, and they have been overwhelming. In a good way.
The best Roughriders broadcaster ever passed away Friday at age 86 but if you know anything about end-of-life stuff, it was a blessing. The Frenzy you knew had been gone for a long time.
Local and national publications have recognized John and it’s great to know his reach, and also how much he impacted not just the Rider Nation, but football fans across the country.
They don’t make em like that anymore.
And lastly the ugly: It’s an interesting thing that’s going on, and it’s not new.
Toronto versus the world.
I’m not sure how many kicks in the teeth they gotta get before they realize they’re not the centre of the universe.
But they say – and I believe it – your mistakes will repeat until you learn your lesson.
Shohei Ohtani spurning the Blue Jays to sign a record 10-year, $700-million deal with the Dodgers is just proof again that Hogtown is not a preferred destination for free agents in just about any league!
They got their hopes sky high, again, only to be dashed.
They’ve got it all wrong. We don’t hate them.
We feel sorry for them.
