MONDAY COMMENTARY: BUFFALO’S BROKEN DREAMS

In times of trouble you can generally find solace in the fact somebody out there has it worse than you.
You don’t ever need to look around too far to find that to be true.
But if you’re the Buffalo Bills and their fans, it may take a little longer.
The NFL’s hard luck franchise added more misery to their history Sunday night when they lost 27-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo.
This time, they thought they had ‘em. Kansas City came out on top in their last two playoff meetings but both of those were at Arrowhead (Stadium).
This time, the Bills were at home and with all the ghusto of the Bills Mafia behind them, this was to be their time.
Nope.
The Chiefs came into Western New York with their travelling road show which included a luxury suite housing Brittany Mahomes (wife of the Chiefs star QB), Taylor Swift (girlfriend of their star tightend), Jason Kelce (brother of said tightend), and somebody named Zach Collaros, a college football buddy of the Kelce’s and CFL star.
They took the place over, and were the story of the game.
And the Bills did Bills things. They fumbled the ball, quarterback Josh Allen looked lost in big moments, and kicker Tyler Bass missed a 44-yard field goal in the dying moments enabling the Chiefs to run out the clock and win the game.
And now they move on to Baltimore and my guess is the travelling circus will enlargen in the week ahead.
As for Buffalo, who’s got it worse than them?
They’ve got a long winter ahead to find that out.
