Commentary: Worth Following

What a weekend! Here are our thoughts on today’s Commentary …

We love football but for now, the big story is the Olympics.

I guess we forgot we could still cheer for the Canadian womens soccer team even though their cheating coach got banished for a year and sent home. (In her statement to the media, she sounds like a raging narcissist who’s still denying any culpability).

And for the record, I don’t believe the players had any idea what their coach and her staff were up to.

So the Red & White beat host France on Sunday to improve to 2-0 and if they beat Columbia on Wednesday, they’re into the next round.

Worth following!

CFL fans are buzzing over two things: Most recently the pathetic Edmonton Elks dropping to 0-7 with a 44-28 home loss to Hamilton on Sunday.

Fans are giddy over back-up Canadian pivot Tre Ford coming into the game and heaving three touchdowns for Edmonton in the fourth quarter.

It was garbage time folks! It doesn’t matter! You know this.

Although Ford will probably start for the Elks this week at Sask.

And the other talk coming out of the weekend was Canadian quarterback Nathan Rourke being released by the New York Giants in training camp.

An NFL agent told me Sunday that Rourke will have 24 hours to clear waivers and then will be eligible to sign with any NFL team who offers him a deal.

Or return to the CFL where he starred with the BC Lions.

What will he do?

It’s another story definitely worth following.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
