Wednesday Commentary: Long Memories

2

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)

It’s Random Thought Wednesday! Buckle up and enjoy:

#1 – What’s top of mind for me? There are so many things that it’s hard to pinpoint just one. But I’d say it’s the CFL Playoffs. (Maybe it’s just out of habit, this time of year).

But the Riders host the BC Lions this Saturday in the Western Semifinal. So many people have been asking for a Grey Cup prediction and since I said before the season it’d be a BC-Montreal Grey Cup, I’ll stick with that.

That means, I guess, I’ll have to predict a Lions victory on Saturday.

#2 – For oldtimers like me: do you remember when home playoff games like this were rare?? We didn’t have one in Saskatchewan between 1988 and 2007! That’s 20 seasons.

Remember how we used to laugh when the Riders included a playoff voucher in our season ticket pack? There wasn’t a chance in hell of being able to redeem it.

Not so funny anymore!

Do they still do that?

#3 – It’s sad to see the divide between rural and urban Saskatchewan coming out of this provincial election. Really, really sad. But one thing I can tell you about farmers, because I come from the country – they’ve got long memories.

#4 – I’m ready for the World Series to end, but apparently the Yankees are not. New York avoided a Dodgers sweep with an 11-4 win Tuesday night, despite L.A.’s Freddie Freeman homering for a sixth straight game.

It seems like a lot of people in my circle are watching this thing closely, judging by social media. I think that’s great!

What’s great too is they’re right back at it Wednesday night with Game 5. That’s five games in six days.

The NHL and NBA could learn a lesson from these guys when it comes to championship finals.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

(The Rod Pedersen Show airs daily at 12 pm & 4 pm ET on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast & YouTube Live)

It’s not sad at all regarding the divide. The lesson learned is a political party specifically the SaskParty can not be all things to all people. What it spelled out clearly is this. Regina/Saskatoon are predominantly urban institutions that exist off the hard work of rural saskatchewan and 1/3 of the legitimate workforce who gets up and carries a paycheck. A mob ruled Education/Healthcare union system is holding this place up for hostage. The go forward is simple. Time to gut the public service, sell/downsize crown corporations and the NDP proved the point that was mentioned in 1944 by Ronald… Read more »

#3 Yeh, I remember all those years when the standard Saskatchewan grad gift was a suitcase and a bus ticket to Calgary because there was no jobs in Saskatchewan because the CCF/NDP government wouldn’t develope our resources.
