Go to Chicago they said. It’ll be fun they said …

Here we are for Monday’s Commentary in the Windy City of Chicago, Illinois, where it’s unseasonably cold for this time of year.

Minus-24 Celsius with the windchill today. Maybe that’s balmy compared to where you are, or maybe you’re tuned in from somewhere sunny and warm.

Either way, it’s another day above ground and that’s a win as far as I’m concerned.

We came for a pair of Blackhawks games and I’m pretty excited as I’d never been to Chi-Town before. On Saturday night the last-place Blackhawks upset Vegas 5-3 before a soldout United Center.

Connor Bedard is who we came to watch, and he ended up with an assist to go along with three shots on goal, and a crossbar.

In truth, one game would’ve been fine but tonight we’ll see Chicago and Carolina and that’s just an added bonus.

Sunday included a trip on the famed L-Train up to Wrigley Field. Of course the Cubs aren’t playing but when in Rome ….

And of course a close eye was kept on Sunday’s NFL Playoff games. A day after Washington upset Detroit and Kansas City handled Houston in the division round, there were two very entertaining, close games on Sunday.

The Eagles held off the L.A. Rams 28-22 in snowy Philadelphia while in Buffalo, the Bills scored a 27-25 upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

The analysis coming out of the weekend will be fun, entertaining and will last for days. At least until it’s time to turn our attention to next weekend’s Final Four in the NFL Conference Championships: Washington at Philadelphia and Buffalo at Kansas City.

The Bears here in Chicago are nothing more than a rumour right now, finishing nowhere near the playoffs. In a souvenir store near Wrigley Field, a Justin Fields jersey can be had for just 25-dollars in the discount bin.

Two years ago it would’ve gone for $300.

What a lesson in market value, and the fact time goes on.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

Can you believe that Andrew Harris is now our RB coach. I guess we are to forgive and forget the many many anti-Rider hate comments during his career?
