Calgary Stampeder legend Henry Burris got a job promotion Thursday.

The CFL Hall-of-Famer was officially named assistant head coach as well as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Florida A&M Rattlers.

Burris joined the Rattlers as a quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator in 2024 after coaching the quarterbacks with the Las Vegas Vipers, following coaching stints with the Los Angeles Rams, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears.

“Coach Burris did a fantastic job throughout the 2024 season and executed the offense the last couple of games the way I wanted to see the offense run,” said Florida A&M head coach James Colzie III, in a statement posted on X.

“It was an obvious choice to promote him to the offensive coordinator position and name him assistant head coach,” Colzie added.

“He deserves it, and I’m excited about the 2025 offense moving forward.”

Burris played close to 300 regular season CFL game with the Stampeders, Tiger-Cats, Saskatchewan Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks. He won two Grey Cups in Calgary and one more in Ottawa, two most outstanding player awards and two Grey Cup MVP awards.

Over the course of his CFL career, Burris threw for over 63,000 yards, the third-most in CFL history.

“We are blessed with two hands,” Burris said in a statement. “One for hard work and the other for giving back.

“My wife Nicole and our boys Armand and Barron are beyond excited to be part of the Florida A&M family. We are beyond excited about continuing our journey, playing a key role in impacting our student-athletes, and contributing to the championship culture that makes FAMU special.

“Let’s get to work! Go Rattlers!”
