Tuesday Commentary: Working On It

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on the All New Hits 98 CKHD & LTD Radio)
It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!
First the good: The Florida Panthers can put away the brooms. The Carolina Hurricanes avoided a sweep in the NHL’s Eastern Conference Final thanks to a dominant 3-0 win in Sunrise in Game 4 on Monday. That means there have been no sweeps so far in these Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Why is this good, you ask? Keep listening …
Next the great: Riding up the elevator at Amerant Bank Arena, a lady on her way to the suites asked if there are any rules to follow in the press box; the place where I was headed.
I told her you’re not allowed to cheer and new this year is a rule that you’re not allowed to wear a jersey in the press box.
She scoffed, “But it’s okay for the guy to wear a Leafs tie on TNT?” (Clearly referring to Biz Nasty, aka Paul Bissonnette).
I just laughed.
What’s great about this is despite the fact the media’s somehow turned into fans of the team they cover, I’ve gone the opposite way. I’m not attached to any team in the NHL or CFL and it’s made it wayyyy easier to pick winners.
For instance, I called for the Hurricanes to win Game 4 even though 93% of people predicted a Panthers win, and a sweep.
Now if I could just detach from the Dallas Cowboys, we’d really be in business. I’m working on it.
And finally, the ugly: Honestly the good news is I can’t think of anything too ugly at the moment.
What I know is the Florida heat & humidity is getting downright ugly. So much so that if you spend much time outside, your iPhone stops working.
Fortunately come Wednesday I’ll be on a jet back to Western Canada for the summer and another season calling games in the Western Canadian Baseball League for the Moose Jaw Miller Express.
Can’t wait.

2025 Saskatchewan Roughriders = too ugly. The upcoming season will show this to be true as this team tanks badly under the continued mismanagement of the general manager.
