Friday Commentary: Predictably Unpredictable

A coupla three or more thoughts heading into the weekend:
#1 – So much for squishing the Berries. The Moose Jaw Miller Express of the Western Canadian Baseball League failed to complete a sweep of their first round series with Saskatoon. In fact, the Berries came alive in Game 2 at Ross Wells Park Thursday night. Carter Beck homered as part of a 15-6 romp to force a deciding Game 3 tonight at the Berry Patch in Saskatoon.
No one said it was going to be easy! Regina and Okotoks completed first round sweeps Thursday night.
#2 – Didn’t see it but I hear we had a CFL thriller in Hamilton Thursday night. Week 10 opened with the BC Lions upsetting the Tiger-Cats 41-38 in overtime. What the heck happened in the second half? I see it was 13-7 at halftime.
Oh, the wild and whacky, zany CFL! The Ticats were denied a seventh straight victory and the Lions are back in the thick of things in the West now at 4-5.
Tonight the once-shunned Cody Fajardo leads the Edmonton Elkimos into Montreal for Friday Night Football against the Alouettes. (Or is it twice-shunned? Or more?)
This CFL season has been predictably unpredictable, and that’s what makes it my favorite football league.
#3 – It’s the eighth day of the eighth month. Welcome to the Lion’s Gate Portal (look it up).
And #4 – The NFL preseason continued in earnest Thursday night with the Ravens and Eagles winning, while the Raiders and Seahawks tied. With so much going on elsewhere, I can’t say I was following it too closely but it was cool to see Pete Carroll back on the sidelines, now with Las Vegas.
But did anyone pick his team to earn a tie in Carroll’s Raiders debut?
Please tell me you don’t bet on preseason NFL football.

Here’s a cfl unpredictable, qb Tre Ford and his twin brother Tyrell traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders as the roughriders in dire need of a young qb very soon. Its time the brass start thinking ahead for their þeam future. (In hindsight they actually should have kept Mason Fine on the team).
