Wednesday Commentary: Bah Humbug

It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday on this Commentary! Please buckle up:
#1 – Another night, more history being made in the NHL. For the first time ever, four games saw a game-tying goal scored in the final 15 seconds of regulation. The previous record for such instances was two games. For the record, these games saw the Ducks, Islanders, Sabres and Predators all go on to win.
I don’t always have multiple screens going at once but I did last night, catching as much of the 10 games as possible.
#2 – The biggest snub of the College Football Playoff bracket was clearly Notre Dame but Texas being excluded shouldn’t be ignored. Former Rider Steve Sarkisian had his Longhorns in the Final Four each of the past two years.
For some reason, first-year starter Arch Manning is getting a pass despite the fact his $5-million NIL deal is more than the base salaries of starting NFL quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix!
#3 – There was lots of CFL news on Tuesday. Cody Fajardo is coming back for another season in Edmonton after getting a new deal done with the Elks. It’s newsworthy because there was some concern it might not happen. I was speaking with Cody throughout the process but out of respect for him, said I’d keep mum till a deal was done. Or not done.
You see, both sides wanted it to happen but there’s a little thing called business. And money. Plus Cody had an opportunity outside the CFL he was considering and he’s also not a young single man anymore. These things take time and the good news is when both sides want the same thing, they generally find a way to make it happen. And they did, which is an early Christmas gift for Elks fans.
#4 – Ever been so excited for Christmas morning only to unwrap your present and not like what you got? It felt that way on Tuesday as the CFL schedule dropped but Rider fans were upset to learn Saskatchewan has a bye in Week 1 and has to wait till Week 2 when BC comes to town to raise the Grey Cup banner. There’s also no Grey Cup rematch in Week 1, which fans had become accustomed to. The schedule had fans and media alike griping from coast to coast.
Sorry, but I don’t have time for the bitching.
Be grateful for what you got.

Long in the tooth Jamarcus Hardrick was signed for 1 season/riders. You know he learned how to play the cfl game with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after being cut 2015/riders.
Sark would probably quit on the College Football Playoff because it wasn’t going his way. Maybe on an airplane.
