Wednesday Commentary: The Best Deal In Town

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday … let’s take a peak:
#1 – Throwing a curveball at ya with this one! Last night I escaped the Stanley Cup Playoffs for one night and took in the Cardinals & Marlins MLB game in Miami. Once a month the Marlins give away free tickets to U.S. Army, Navy & Air Force vets and my buddy Chris is a veteran who always asks me to go with him. We always have a blast, and guessed there were 6,000 in attendance. Stadium staff don’t mind if you move down close to the action. Even if we didn’t have free tickets, you can get in for just $9. It’s the best deal in town.
#2 – Otherwise it was a cliffhanger of games in the NHL Playoffs including Tampa Bay hanging on for a 3-2 OT win over Montreal, tying the series up at 1-1. BOTH games have gone to OT in this series and I’m loving the camaraderie I’m having with all my Habs fan friends. They know I root for the Florida NHL teams, but we’ve had a friendly back and forth in this series.
So far.
#3 – You know what? The CFL Draft is actually pretty interesting once you dig into it. In fact, for me, it’s more interesting than the NFL Draft which kicks off with Round 1 on Thursday. Ottawa holds the #1 pick in next Tuesday’s CFL Draft and the top prospect is Miami Hurricanes D-lineman Akheem Mesidore. The Ottawa product is a stud. The only question is, will he get an NFL look and the answer is likely yes, especially after the star season he had, helping lead the Canes to the national championship.
Honestly I haven’t worked in the CFL in years but I still give it the coverage I do because I’ll always be a fan, and given the state of Canadian media, the league can use the help.
As Bob Hughes would say, “Y’er welcome”.
