Thursday Commentary: Let The Games Begin

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
Why is it I have a tough time keeping my mind on one thing for a 90-second commentary? Oh well. There’s lots going on.
#1 – The curtain rises on the 2026 CFL season tonight with the Montreal Alouettes at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. I’ve got the Als to win and am inviting RP Show viewers to play along and keep track of their own results (be honest!). The winner’ll get a gift certificate to our sponsor PumpJacks in Regina & Weyburn. You don’t gotta put money on the line for it to be fun! Let the games begin.
#2 – Here’s hoping the Carolina fans enjoyed their serving of karma in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. They serenaded Vegas goalie Carter Hart with a chant of “No means no!” on Tuesday and the Golden Knights came back to win 5-4. What part of the word “acquitted” don’t people understand?
Oh well — the quickest path to frustration and anger is to tell others how to act so those fans can jeer all they want. All it’s doing is firing up the Golden Knights and their goaltender.
Way to go.
#3 – The reaction was swift and immense to CKRM Radio naming me one of their nine station icons on Wednesday, as they celebrate 100 years on the air.
I did take a moment to enjoy it, because I spend most days celebrating others. I reflected on all the hard work that went into that honour, and the great support people who helped us put on a quality product everyday.
And what it did was close the book on a long, rewarding chapter.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
