Wednesday Commentary: What, Me Worry?

It’s Random Thoughts Wednesday! Here we go …
#1 – It’s already do or die for the Moose Jaw Miller Express in the WCBL East Division Final. On Tuesday the Saskatoon Berries took a 7-4 victory out of Ross Wells Park in Game 1 of the Best-of-3, and Wednesday night the Millers face elimination at the Berry Patch in Saskatoon. What, me worry? Not at all. These series can turn on a dime and that’s the plan tonight. 7:05 pm first pitch on Flo College Baseball. FYI: We set a single game franchise attendance record on Tuesday. Thanks to all who came out!
#2 – As mentioned, Berries alum Carter Beck put this league on the map when he went in the first round of the MLB Draft to the Atlanta Braves last month. The Carnduff, SK product will be on the RP Show on Monday.
#3 – Sportstalk radio icon Mike Richards got tongues wagging on the RP Show Tuesday when he said he’s making a return to the Calgary airwaves September 5. Sounds like maybe some investors have come together to revive sports radio out there after Rogers left town several weeks back.
It’s not that hard to do. In fact we had money together to put up a transmitter in Southern Saskatchewan a number of years ago and go all sports but we eventually decided streaming would suffice.
To each their own! But there really is no reason for sportstalk to die. Anywhere. Especially in this day and age.
And #4 – Speaking of, can somebody tell me how, in this day and age, there was no video of the training camp “scuffle” between Las Vegas Raiders stars Kirk Cousins and Maxx Crosby on Friday? Not even a photo? You’d think if not a TV news station, then surely a fan would have their cell phone rolling on team drills featuring the first group, wouldn’t ya?
But not in 2026, when the teams are judge, jury and executioner.
