Friday Commentary: Human Nature

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)

A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend:

#1 – Yes, the CFL playoffs are here. It’s been fun all week talking about them and teeing up the games. But you reach a point where it’s time to stop talking and it’s time to start playing. I feel like that time is here. I’ve got the Argos & Riders to win on Saturday. Catch the games at PumpJacks Cathedral or Weyburn with fellow fans…

#2 – Has it always been this way? The focus in the sports media this week is ESPN’s Pat McAfee spinning out of control after being teased by University of Utah students during last week’s College Game Day appearance, and vowing to never return to Salt Lake City again. He said he got death threats too.

There’s way, way more to the story than that but that’s the crux of it, and although ESPN has backed their star, many media figures have come out and criticized McAfee for being soft. Many of them are women!

My take? McAfee makes $30-million a year. Oh, and I got plenty of death threats too. Most of them came from Rider fans. It boils down to: if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

The humans change but human nature does not. Your choice Pat.

And #3 – Such a fun start to the NHL season! The games have been difficult to predict, but I got 6/11 right on Thursday. The Oilers, Hurricanes, Canadiens, Lightning and Golden Knights are usually a lock – to win – while the Canucks, Blue Jackets, Flyers and Blackhawks are already a lock – to lose.

The box of chocolates teams – the ones where you never know what you’re gonna get – are the Leafs, Sabres, Sharks and Ducks. But that’s what makes it fun.

Oh, and if you want some REAL quality hockey, check out the Pats & Warriors tonight in Moose Jaw. Y’er welcome.
