There was some good that came out of the Blue Jays’ 7-2 loss Saturday against the White Sox at Rogers Centre. Vladimir Guerrero Junior had the first multi-hit game of his career, going 2 for 2 with a pair of singles and a pair of walks to raise his batting average to .186.

The Boston Red Sox continue to surge after opening their World Series title defence with a 6-and-13 record. The Red Sox won for the 15th time in their last 21 games by knocking off the sputtering Seattle Mariners, 9-5. The Mariners lost for the 14th time in their last 18 games.

The Mets were 4-1 winners against the Marlins behind Jacob deGrom, who struck out eight and held Miami to a run and five hits over seven innings for his first victory since April 3rd. DeGrom also went 2-for-3 with an R-B-I single that capped the Mets’ three-run sixth.

A person familiar with the search says the Lakers have hired Frank Vogel as coach and Jason Kidd as an assistant. The 45-year old Vogel worked for the organization before as an advance scout during the 2005-06 season. He did not coach last season following two years with the Orlando Magic.
