BRUINS GRAB SERIES LEAD IN SJHL FINALS

After trailing Game 5 of the SJHL Final 2-0 for much of the night, the Estevan Bruins tied the game with five seconds left in the game, and won it in overtime, battling for a 3-2 series lead.

Jaeden Mercier and Zak Smith scored first period goals for Flin Flon and they led 2-0 after the opening frame.  Eric Pearce (1g-2a) notched his 10th of the playoffs for the Bruins early in the second period and it stayed that way until the dying seconds of regulation when defenseman Nolan Jones blasted home a one-timer with 5.8 seconds left.

In overtime, Pearce won a face-off straight back to Alex Von Sprecken whose slapshot was deflected into the top shelf by Olivier Pouliot for the overtime winner, his 10th of the playoffs and league-leading 21st point.

The home team has now won all five games of the series and it continues Tuesday in Flin Flon for Game 6.  If the trend continues the seventh and deciding game would be Friday back in Estevan.
