Reiterating today that it’s the best time of year! Here are some random thoughts:

#1 – The booming voice of Hall of Fame Roughriders broadcaster John Frenzy is echoing in my ears these days.

It’s regarding the story of free agent wide receiver Chase Claypool whose NFL days may be finished after only four seasons. The rumour came up over the weekend that the Abbottsford, BC product – whose Mom is from Hudson Bay, SK – could be CFL-bound with the Roughriders and BC Lions as suitors.

“Where there’s smoke there’s fire!” Frenzy often cautioned.

Oh, and “He’s a B.T.T., boyyyy! A Big Time Talent!”

Claypool sure is.

Word came down on Tuesday that the Roughriders did indeed add Claypool to their exclusive negotiation list on the weekend. Why would you do that if you weren’t trying to sign him?

Playing the long game can be lonely and you take a lot of arrows, but boyyyyyy is it worth it in the end.

#2 – The Florida Panthers lost again, 5-3 at Montreal Tuesday night, meaning they’ve dropped eight of their last 10 games at almost the worst time of year.

Panthers fans are losing their heads, as you can imagine, but Florida coach Paul Maurice advised after the game that everyone should “relax”.

Easy to say, tough to do.

We’ll be discussing on today’s Cats ‘N Bolts Podcast taping with special guest, beloved Panthers announcer Andrew Imber.

And #3 – Have you heard? The Pro Pickleball League season is kicking off this week in Miami at the Ultra Courts with the tournament playoffs airing this weekend on Game+ TV (the same network which carries the RP Show).

I’m gonna mosey on down there and check it all out for myself. There’s a chance of even slipping into the broadcast booth!

I’ll say it again – an old dog can learn new tricks, but only if he’s willing to learn.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary

It can be looked at a couple ways Let the Peter Pan types and Old Infants play “games” We are not old. I can be 20 with 30 years experience or take the best frame of mind you are in where all the balance is there and I do this. I am 50. It’s all working now so I plan to now be 50 and stay that way for the next 30 years. Others play games and we’ll the most recent “voice of….”. Claypool sounds like another Duron Carter to me but obviously the Rider brainthrust is interested.
