Commentary: Wednesday Randoms

2

It’s Random Thoughts day on the RP Commentary! Welcome aboard:

#1 – The Blue Jays have been out of the running since mid-summer so I hadn’t given them much thought. And still don’t.

But this Shohei Ohtani situation has to have even the most casual of baseball fans paying attention! The Japanese superstar of the L.A. Dodgers hit his 48th homerun of the season last night against the Marlins here in Miami, to go along with the 48 stolen bases he already has.

He’s trying to become the first player in MLB history to hit the 50/50 mark.
Dang … I should’ve gone to the game.

#2 – I don’t need to look at the CFL schedule for Week 16 to decide which is Canada’s Game of the Week.

It’s the Saskatchewan Roughriders at the Calgary Stampeders Friday night. You don’t need to be a mathematician to know, looking at the standings, that if the Riders lose, they’ll miss the playoffs.

Is this the earliest must-win game in Rider history?

Meanwhile Coach Corey Mace had to halt practice on Tuesday, twice I read, because the team’s performance wasn’t satisfactory.

Oy vey.

#3 – Still with football, the NFL’s Miami Dolphins placed QB Tua Tagovailoa on Injured Reserve on Tuesday, roughly three or four days after they said they wouldn’t.

But I don’t hold that change-of-heart against them.

These situations change by the minute and more than anything, I feel bad for them. They put all their eggs in the Tua basket and because of that, we wait and see if their season’s going up in smoke.

Someone will have to pay for that decision eventually, but now we wait and see how it all turns out.

And #4 – Hockey season is upon us with pretty much all leagues are in training camp.

It takes a lot to affect change in sports so I applaud Tuesday’s announcement that the Regina Pats have moved all Saturday games to a 6:00 pm start from its traditional 7:00 pm start times.

It’s been that way since hockey began, but the Pats feel this is a more family-friendly start time.

I couldn’t agree more, and gets you home in time to watch a good chunk of Hockey Night In Canada.

Leagues are finally starting to adapt.

Can’t wait to see if it pays off.

That’s today’s RP Commentary.

Calgary vs Saskatchewan has far more reaching implications. The recent Federal bye elections have been clear on one thing. We are collectively done with this past 4 year social engineered woke Era. The good people of Calgary are on board with this. They will do their part to make that game #attendance0 and in Regina we will do the same for Sept 28. Send the message….silently. Boycott these two games as we are done with false history rewriting history. A compromise would be to pay tribute to the wildlife here before all of us. Boycott the CFL this month. Nothing… Read more »

I will attend Pats games until my last breath. It’s not easy to run Jr hockey and not at all in the Brandt centre.

$40 a ticket just means less games.

With that – $155 got me a season ticket to U of R Men’s Cougars hockey.

14 game regular season. Great hockey.
