FLAME TECH FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN
Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we tackled it all on Episode #494 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Read on for the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) TSN’s Farhan Lalji reports CFL training camps are “a go”. (Rod said he’s still not convinced), 2) Jon Ryan tells the Leader Post the CFL is forgetting the “C”, he fears for the league’s future, and foresees a merger with the XFL, 3) Thursday NHL leftovers (the Leafs aren’t nervous yet are they?), 4) The Blue Jays split in New York, 5) The Bob Young/Arash Madani Twitter feud, and 6) Weekend sports lookahead.
- RP Show Carolina NFL correspondent Brian “The Snowman” Snow joined the show from Durham, NC to talk all things NFL. He covered the Julio Jones situation (he agrees with Rod that Julio didn’t know he was on live TV when he said he wants out of Atlanta), the Aaron Rodgers saga, Trevor Lawrence’s early struggles in Jaguars minicamp, and the future of the 49ers and Cardinals. The Snowman answered a ton of questions from viewers.
- The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre daily poll question was: Who wins Game 7 tonight – Minnesota or Vegas? At press time over 60% of respondents voted for the Golden Knights.
- In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we sunk deep into a back-and-forth with viewers on CFL and NFL issues plus the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
- Former Eskimos, Lions, Titans & Buccaneers linebacker Rennie Curran joined the show to talk ball. The former Georgia star talked about his time in the CFL and close friendship with Edmonton linebacker J.C. Sherritt. Curran dabbled in some NFL topics and explained his new role as leadership coach & keynote speaker!
- RP and Moose Faced Off on the 2,500 fans being allowed into Game 6 between the Maple Leafs and Canadiens in Montreal on Saturday. RP feels they’ll be on their best behaviour since it’s a privilege to be allowed in while Dupes says they’ll be rabid and out of control. The Face Off is a presentation of UFZ Moose Jaw and The Mad Greek Restaurant.
